Garmin Fixing PND Glitch

By Amy Gilroy -- TWICE,06/24/2009

Olathe, Kan. — Garmin said its Nuvi 7x5 portable GPS series has a firmware error that is causing some devices to shutdown and/or perform an unprompted GPS software update.

Garmin issued a statement saying it is aware of this issue and is “working diligently on a solution.”

The 7x5 series is a high-end line of personal navigation devices (PNDs) first announced last August. The models include 4.3-inch screens, lane assistance, Bluetooth, optional or built-in FM traffic and MSN Direct traffic, and 3-D building views in some cities. Models range in suggested prices from $399 to $549.

Garmin release an update to the 7x5 series GPS units on 6/23/09 that turned my 755t into a brick. I sent it back to Garmin Internation which is more or less a corporate black hole. Suggest if you've got a Garmin brick seek reimbursement from the original seller.

it is true. my garmin is now just a vegetable.

i hope they send me a NEW one. refurbs are crap. they sent me a refurb part for a different product and it was DOA.

if garmin doesn't send me a new one, i'll go out and buy a magellan or other product. mine is under warranty still.
